The election follows the successful conclusion of his second and final two-year term as Chairman of IMEC’s Recruitment and Training Committee.
Established over 30 years ago, IMEC is the leading international organisation for maritime human resources and seafarer welfare. It promotes fair employment practices and high standards of training and safety across the global industry. One of IMEC’s key strengths lies in its unity. Backed by a broad base of industry support, the organisation is well-positioned to effectively negotiate collective bargaining agreements worldwide.
Today, IMEC represents over 300 members across 50 countries, operating more than 12,000 vessels and employing 400,000+ seafarers of various nationalities. Members are individual shipping companies, both owners and managers, large and small, operating all types of ships including dry bulk, container, cruise liners, livestock carriers, reefers and tankers, while the ships they operate are registered in more than 60 different countries.
In addition to its representative role, IMEC is deeply involved in the development and future employment of seafarers, running its own cadet training programmes on behalf of its members, as well as supporting companies’ own initiatives.
As part of the team of experienced maritime professionals, Clodius will continue to play an active role in the daily work of IMEC. His appointment will no doubt continue to bring valuable insights and leadership to IMEC, further strengthening its role in shaping the future of global maritime employment.
