Located in Manila, the United Marine Training Centre (UMTC) is the Philippines’ first maritime training facility recognised as a Centre of Excellence by DNV-GL. With Filipino seafarers comprising over 50% of Marlow’s global crew, UMTC plays a key role in developing world-class maritime professionals.
The state-of-the-art centre offers comprehensive training programmes for deck and engine officers, ratings, and cooks, as well as specialised courses in crane operations, heavy lift handling, and bridge/engine simulation. All programmes meet and exceed STCW standards, ensuring trainees are equipped with the skills required for the modern maritime industry.
n addition to its advanced training facilities, UMTC includes a 650-bed dormitory, providing a fully immersive environment for cadets and seafarers.
Ukraine is a key provider of deck and engine officers for Marlow Navigation. Our collaboration with the region’s maritime training institutions has evolved differently compared to our Manila Training Centre.
Since 2005, we have worked closely with the Kherson State Maritime Academy (formerly Kherson Maritime College) and the Kherson Maritime Specialized Training Centre (KMSTC). Through this partnership, we ensure that the curriculum and training are closely aligned with the evolving needs of the maritime industry.
Marlow actively selects promising students after their second year of study to join the company as cadets. These cadets continue their education in Marlow-specific classes and return to the company as fully qualified officers upon graduation.
In Hamburg, Germany, Marlow is a shareholder in the state-of-the-art Marine Training Centre Hamburg (MTC). The centre offers a wide range of simulator and classroom-based courses, allowing our clients to train their crew in specific areas identified during office briefings.
Training includes navigation and technical courses such as engine, electrical, and marine technology, control systems, radar, dynamic positioning, as well as dry and liquid cargo simulators. The centre also provides a variety of safety and management training.
